A few weeks ago our mate KS made a decision to walk the Overland Track...a group of us received an email. 'Were we in or out'?
WOW a 6 night 7 day walk...I was in like a shot. We were all at work but the email traffic went to and fro...nearly everybody was in!
I guess we all want to go for different reasons. I had walked the Camino from Porto to Santiago last year but from the time I got back I hadn't walked another step. I am way into my '40s and terribly fat. I need this walk. I need this opportunity to challenge myself. I have tons of excuses as to why I can't but the thought of being out there in the wilderness is appealing.
I loved walking last year, I loved the preparations, I loved knowing that I could walk up a hill slowly but get there eventually....
We have been planning and planning (not training mind you just planning)and today was the day when I went out to Mont in Fyshwick and purchased the majority of my gear. I guess I want to single Marcus, Ben and Dom out and Mont because even though we were the most unlikely bunch of Gals to be purchasing their outdoor gear they were so attentive. Marcus and Ben helped out various members of our group over several visits. Today was the BIG day....PURCHASE day. I'm not sure we knew it when we went in but after Marcus erected the tent, engaged us in the process... empowering us that this is something we will be able to do every night of our trip...we were hooked!
